W7658 TL-H from 35 Squadron



On 27th April 1942, the crew of Halifax W7658 TL-H from 35 Squadron took off at 2035 hrs from RAF Kinloss on the North East coast of Scotland to participate in an attack on the German Battleship Tirpitz which was moored at the time in Fættenfjord in Norway.

On arriving in the target area this aircraft experienced intense flak at the entrance to Fættenfjord and jettisoned their load of mines before returning to base.

The aircraft and crew returned safely to RAF Kinloss landing at 0510 hrs on 28th April 1942.

This aircraft developed engine trouble about an hour after take off from Kinloss, and returned early. The mines were jettisoned in the sea.

The aircraft and crew returned safely to RAF Kinloss landing at 2347 hrs on 28th April 1942.
